Authentication of documents
The procedure for authenticating documents produced by
government authorities in our jurisdiction is as follows:
- The Haitian Embassy will only legalize/authenticate documents
that have previously been legalized/authenticated by the government
in our jurisdiction or by the Ministry of foreign Affairs in Haiti.
The fee for authentication of foreign documents is 50 US dollars and
$300,00 for companies.
Birth Certificate
Any Haitian parent residing within the Embassy’s jurisdiction can register his
or her child at the Embassy and obtain a birth certificate and a passport.
The documents required are as follows:
- Parent’s valid Haitian passport
- Parent’s marriage certificate, if married
- Child’s foreign birth certificate and French translation
Declaration of birth: $40.00 USD
Transcription of birth certificate: $50.00 USD
Citizenship Services
Haitian citizens can access various citizenship-related services, including:
- Birth Registration: Register a child born abroad to obtain Haitian citizenship.
- Dual Citizenship: Information on Haiti’s dual nationality laws and eligibility.
- Marriage & Death Certificates: Obtain official records of significant life events.
Diplomatic and Official Visas
Diplomatic and official visas are issued on diplomatic or official passports
and on United Nations laissez-passer, at the request of the institution for
which the applicant works.The following documents are required to issue
a diplomatic or official visa:
- Visa application letter from the relevant institution
- Valid passport
- Two (2) color passport photos
Passport Services
We provide passport issuance and renewal services for Haitian citizens.
- New Passport Application: For first-time applicants or children born abroad.
- Passport Renewal: Renew your passport if it is expired or close to expiring.
- Lost or Stolen Passport: Report a lost or stolen passport and apply for a replacement.
Passport Application
Passports are issued to Haitian applicants on presentation of an
identity document and proof of Haitian citizenship . For this purpose,
applicants must:
- Complete and sign a passport application form
- Submit the following documents to the Embassy :
- A birth certificate issued by the Haitian National Archives
(new blue and red certificate) - The old passport and a second piece of valid identification
(driver’s license, student card or residence card) - Two valid pieces of identification if the old passport is
not available - Two color passport photos on a white background, less than
three (3) months old - An extract or original marriage certificate, if the applicant
is a married woman wishing to change her name - The original divorce certificate, if the applicant is divorced
and wishes to change her name - The husband’s death certificate if the applicant is widowed
and wishes to change her name - A parental authorization signed by a parent or legal guardian,
if the application is filed on behalf of a minor.
- A birth certificate issued by the Haitian National Archives
Duration of the passport
passports are issued for a period of ten (10) years for adults and five
(5) years for minors (under 18s); no changes are permitted during
this period. Any change of data on an issued passport must be made
on the basis of a new, duly paid application. In the event of loss of a
valid passport, the applicant must submit a police report with the
application form.
Remark: In certain cases of extreme urgency, a travel certificate
or “feuille de route” may be issued in lieu of a passport to facilitate
Haitian nationals’ travel to Haiti. This “feuille de route” is valid
for one (1) month and one (1) trip only. It should be understood
that Haitian nationals will not be able to return to Vietnam with
this travel document. You must have your passport.

Power of Attorney
A power of attorney allows a person (principal) to delegate certain
powers of legal representation to any other person (mandatary) of his
or her choice.

Any Haitian or person of Haitian origin wishing to appoint a person in Haiti
to represent him or her as proxy must present to the Embassy with a valid
passport accompanied by proof of Haitian nationality or origin. Proof could
be a birth certificate or an expired passport. The principal must be able to
provide the following information on the representative: surname(s) and
first name(s); address and (NIF) or passport number.
Visa Information
We offer visa services for Vietnamese citizens and other nationals wishing
to visit Haiti. Below are the available visa categories:
- Tourist Visa: For short-term visits to explore Haiti’s culture and natural beauty.
- Business Visa: For business-related travel, meetings, and conferences.
- Student Visa: For students enrolled in academic programs in Haiti.
- Work Visa: For individuals employed by Haitian companies or organizations.
Application Process:
- Complete the visa application form.
- Submit passport, photos, and required documents.
- Pay the visa processing fee.
- Wait for processing (usually 5–7 working days).
Application
The visa must be apply at least one (1) month before the date of departure,
and provide the following supporting documents:
- Valid passports for at least 6 months
- Visa application form duly completed and signed
- Two (2) recent color passport photos
- Letter explaining the purpose and duration of the stay,
and providing the following information:
a. Name, address and telephone number of the hotel or private home
where they will be staying in Haiti
b. Valid passport (at least 6 months)
c. Photocopy of airline reservation confirmation or
round-trip ticket
d. Letter from current employer.
Service Fee
All requests must be submitted to the Consular Section between Monday
and Friday.
