Hanoi, May 18, 2025 — The Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Vietnam had the honor of commemorating the 222nd anniversary of the creation of the Haitian flag this Sunday, May 18, 2025, during a deliverance mass celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi.
This solemn event, marked by reflection, fraternity, and national pride, brought together a diverse group of participants: members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Vietnam, Haitian nationals living in Hanoi, as well as many Vietnamese friends, who came to express their solidarity and respect for the Haitian people.
The ceremony was a powerful moment, recalling the historical significance of the bicolored flag – blue and red – adopted in 1803, a symbol of unity, resistance, and independence. It provided an opportunity to pay tribute to the founding values of the Haitian nation, as well as the courage of those who shaped its history.
The Embassy warmly thanks all the participants for their presence and support at this commemoration, which reflects the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between Haiti and Vietnam.
